We are excited to announce Liz Hayes as the new Program Manager of Digital On-Demand Services (DODS) at the Local Media Consortium (LMC). Liz brings a deep passion for local media and a proven track record of empowering newsrooms to grow and succeed in today’s digital landscape.

Liz’s journey in local media began in high school, inspiring her to pursue a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. Her career spans roles in radio and television as a reporter, anchor, and executive producer, culminating in her leadership of MomsEveryday, Gray Television’s first cross-company branded TV show, which aired in 55 markets. More recently, Liz supported local news outlets nationwide as the Director of Strategy for the Branded Content Project, helping them develop impactful branded content strategies.
In her new role, Liz will help local media companies thrive by connecting them with the tools, expertise, and resources needed to grow their digital businesses. Through DODS, publishers will gain affordable access to fractional resources to help them with digital projects like web development or analytics implementation, as well as consulting services to assist with strategic planning, project management and more. Liz will also oversee the expansion of key resources, including an Online Marketplace with a concierge help desk and an RJI Learning Center, where media professionals can access training, curated content, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities.
This role was created in response to the growing demand from local media organizations for accessible digital solutions. Many publishers lack the technical resources to navigate the complexities of digital transformation, but DODS fills this gap by offering customized support at a fraction of the cost of traditional services. Since its launch in 2022, the program has already helped dozens of newsrooms redesign websites, launch newsletters, and optimize analytics tools, driving tangible results for their businesses.
With her extensive background in media and strategic leadership, Liz is uniquely positioned to expand the impact of DODS. Her work will enable local publishers to strengthen their digital presence, reach new audiences, and build sustainable business models—ultimately ensuring that local journalism continues to thrive in communities across the country.
Please join us in welcoming Liz Hayes to this critical role. We are confident her expertise and dedication will help local media companies unlock new opportunities for success in the digital age.
